How do you know if your Spanish is actually working?

Hey Reader πŸ‘‹πŸΎ

Last week we officially began our step-by-step launch of the NEW 12-Logro Method in the BTG Spanish Community. In case you've missed it, the 12-Logro Method is our signature framework for helping you speak Spanish confidently over the course of 12 milestones (aka logros) πŸŽ‰

Each logro is built with 4 major pieces:

  • Tasks: what you should be able to perform in Spanish. For example, one of the tasks in Logro 3 is being able to introduce yourself and your family.
  • Habits: specific ways that you've incorporated Spanish into your daily life. For example, one of the habits in Logro 6 is establishing a relationship with a Spanish-speaker whom you practice with outside of class.
  • Vocabulary: for the first time ever, we are giving you the words that you should be learning every step of the way in your Spanish journey.
  • Grammar: we are currently rebuilding our grammar structure to focus on the practicality of grammar in real-life conversations rather than learning the rules outside of real-life application.

Over the next couple of weeks, your conversation teachers will be evaluating you to determine exactly where you are within the 12-Logro method, giving you a clear path to complete all 12 Logros.

We hope you are just as excited about this as we are!! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Just reply directly to this email.

Let me describe how most people learn Spanish.

There's an app you downloaded two years ago. Then you found a YouTube channel that you binged for a while. Oh! And don't forget about the podcast that you listen to sometimes. And somehow you still have some vague remembrance of that class you took in college. And can't forget about that verb conjugation chart you saved on your desktop but never opened!

And the list probably goes on and on. But, let's address the elephant in the room...you're putting in real effort and spending real time, but none of it connects to anything else.

And here's the worst part: you have no idea if any of it is working. Or maybe you know it isn't working because you still can't SPEAK.

You can't tell if you're better than you were six months ago. You can't tell what to study next. You can't tell if you're close to your goal or nowhere near it. So you just... keep piecing it together and hoping.

That's not a learning plan. That's a scavenger hunt.

The 12-Logro Method exists because you shouldn't have to piece it together.

Every Logro is one step on a single, connected path. Logro 1 teaches you to introduce yourself. Logro 2 gives you the essential verbs that unlock the sentences you use in real life. Each one logro builds on the last β€” in the order you actually need it to start communicating.

No guessing what to study next. No random grammar rabbit holes. Just the next step, and then the one after that straight to direct communication.

But because we know that structure alone isn't enough, we also give you the proof that you're actually learning. Every three months starting in August, BTG learners who are matched with one of our native conversation teachers will receive a progress report.

Instead of a vague "you're doing great!", this progress report an actual, detailed picture of where you stand:

  • Your Conversational Fluency Score β€” a single number from 0 to 100 showing exactly how far you've come and how far you have to go
  • Your current logro β€” where you are on the 12-Logro journey, and whether you advanced this quarter
  • Speaking confidence ratings β€” how your teacher sees your progress, quarter by quarter
  • Comprehension ratings β€” how well you're following natural, native-speed Spanish
  • Grammar progress β€” exactly what Logro grammar material you've completed and what's next
  • Evidence of progress β€” real, specific moments from your sessions that show you're growing
  • Your next steps β€” so you always know what you're working toward

Imagine opening that report and clearly seeing that you moved from a 25 to a 36 this quarter.

This is a sample progress report so you can see exactly what you'd receive β€” the fluency gauge, the ratings, the grammar progress, all of it.

Nothing vague. Nothing subjective. Just a clear picture of where you are and what's next.

That's more than a feeling of confidence. That's proof.

And here at BTG Spanish, we believe that this is what learning Spanish is supposed to feel like.

One path. Clear steps. Real feedback. And a teacher who knows exactly where you are and where you're headed.

Next week, we're back with another preview from Logro 5 β€” and I think you're going to like this one.

Β‘Hasta pronto!
