Ask any seasoned Spanish learner what still trips them up, and you'll hear this answer over and over.
Por and para.
Two tiny words. Both can translate to "for." And somehow, choosing between them can feel like a struggle every time.
Here's the thing: you've probably been taught to translate them directly from English to Spanish. But it may surprise you that "for" isn't actually what either one technically means. They're doing different jobs in a sentence, and once you realize that, choosing between them becomes so much easier.
Logro 5 in our new 12-Logro Method curriculum covers this conundrum.
But I didn't want to just give you a rules chart.
A list of six uses for por and six uses for para, memorized on Monday and forgotten by Thursday? Yeahhh...you know it's true π
So I told a story instead.
βIn this short video, I walk through a simple story in Spanish and point out por and para as they naturally appear β in context the way you might run into them in conversation.
Watch it, and you can move away from translating and start recognizing.
Wondering why this comes at Logro 5 and not earlier?
As you move up in the Logro progression, your learning becomes more about refining. Our lessons on por and para are just an example of a concept where we take you from "understandable" to "sounding like you know what you're doing."
And, that's the whole point of how we've woven grammar into the 12-Logro Method β grammar arrives when you're ready to use it, not before.
